Timber Cruising for the buyer or seller
When timberland property changes ownership, time and
expense can be important. Forest Inventory Group can design a cruise
for either the buyer or seller, which can obtain the information
needed efficiently and cost effectively.
Land Reconnaissance for the Timberland Buyer
Forest Inventory Group can provide a reconnaissance
service in a timely manner that can provide clients with enough
information to proceed with initial land purchase negotiations.
This recon can help the client determine the general value of the
property prior to, or without the need for, doing a more complete
evaluation later. The technical information that can quickly be
determined about a property includes: ocular estimates of the timber
value, actual property acreages, water availability, potential sites
for home construction, rock quarry potential, possible access road
problems, etc.
Although the most effective recons are accomplished by actually
visiting a property, Forest Inventory Group can provide a client
with much valuable preliminary information about a property using
aerial photographic interpretation alone.
Timber Typing and Evaluation of Remote Properties
Using Aerial Photos
Forest Inventory Group is experienced in reasonably
estimating volume and value of remote, hard to access properties
using aerial photos. Using aerial photos, Forest Inventory Group
are able to stratify timberland into associated timber types.
Forest Inventory Group is set-up with GPS units and surveying software
to allow us to make detailed vegetation type maps or run approximate
property lines. Although we are not a licensed land surveyor, we
can do the preparation work required by surveyors to run property
lines, such as cadastral research, corner location, approximate
acreage determination, etc
